OLD LAHAINA LUAU HAS REOPENED
Aloha and Welcome to our Maui Sights and Treasures Blog! This post has been specifically written for anyone interested in attending a Hawaiian Luau on Maui. Written by Maui Sights and Treasures
The #1 Luau in Hawaii is the Old Lahaina Luau!
The Old Lahaina Lu’au has always been one of my favorite Luaus on Maui. They are not on a Hotel lawn. The beautiful property is located oceanfront.
The Old Lahaina Luau is mentioned in Frommer’s Guide to Maui, also Fodor’s, as well as many other guidebooks for Hawaii and Maui. Zagat gives the Old Lahaina Luau an “Excellent” for Food, Service and Décor…
I took my Dad who is visiting the Old Lahaina Luau this past Friday and we had a wonderful time!
Our Old Lahaina Luau ticket included a Fresh Flower Lei Greeting and a Maitai as we were escorted to our table. We had a drink waiter (in costume!) who brought us our Cocktails and Beverages during the Luau.
After setting our stuff down on the table we wandered around and checked out the Cultural Demonstrations.
I enjoyed the Poi Pounding demonstration, tried the freshly shaved Coconut! and watched the unearthing of the Pig that had been slowly cooking all day…there was also a Hula Class, Lawn Bowling, and more.
Time for Dinner! The Old Lahaina Lu’au has the biggest and best Hawaiian Luau Buffet on Maui with Steak, Teriyaki Chicken, Pig, and Fresh Fish entrees, plus lots of sides and salads to choose from!
Your waiter will bring a Dessert Tray to your table during the hour-long Hula Show with the local style Haupia, Chocolate Brownies, and more.
As the sun sets the evening entertainment begins with an authentic mix of Hawaiian and Tahitian Hula Dancing. The Old Lahaina Hula Show takes us back to the days of the migration, of the Tahitians to the Hawaiian Islands, through the arrival of the Missionaries and the evolution of a more contemporary style of Hula.
We were mesmerized by the legend of Pele, our Volcano Goddess. Hula dancers tell their stories through their graceful moves, subtle eyes, and lovely hula hands…
The Old Lahaina Luau culminates with the romantic ‘Hawaiian Wedding Song’ where ‘couples in love’ are encouraged to dance.
The Old Lahaina Luau dancers are waiting at the exit to say goodbye and for Photo Ops! We had our pictures taken with the pretty Hula Dancers! All in all a fabulous evening and a wonderful memory of your visit to Hawaii.
