Take a step back in time with a visit to the Island of Molokai!Molokai is a place where aloha is a lifestyle. Molokai is very quiet, rural, and very Hawaiian; considered the last Hawaiian Island. Our trip began out of Lahaina checking in at 6:45 AM on the Molokai Princess.  We received a nice muffin and  fresh fruit to eat before we boarded.  The Ferry took us on a 1 3/4 hour cruise over to Molokai.

We explored Moloka’i with an experienced local tour guide named Hans in a comfortable air- conditioned van. The monumental historic guided tour would include Kalaupapa Sea Cliffs ,which happens to be some of the largest in the world (1100-m). And at that we could see what was once referred to as the “leper colony,” which will soon be a National Park. Our tour drove by a Plumeria flower plantation and “Church Row,” a row of seven churches. Father Damien Churches were so beautiful and amazing!

The Macadamia Nut Farm was very interesting part of our trip. The owner of the Macadamia Nut Farm gave us information and samples of the nuts right out of the shell. We also enjoyed the honey mustard and coconut tastings. Then, the coffee plantation was our next stop. We were able to buy cold delicious blended coffee drinks and shop at their gift shop.

For lunch, we stopped was at the Moloka’i Hotel. We were served sandwiches, chips and drink with an incredible ocean view.  Our tour also included driving by Hawaiian fish ponds and shopping downtown. This part of the tour really made us feel like we were exploring back in time!

If you would rather discover the island on your own, you can also do “The Cruise and Drive” Trip. With this tour, you will be provided round trip ferry tickets on board the Molokai Princess,  have a vehicle and a road map ready for you at the dock, plus a list of all the interest points of the island. Then off you go!
