Aloha and welcome to our Maui Sights & Treasures Blog! This blog post has been specifically written for anyone interested in a Blue Hawaiian Helicopter flight over Maui. This time i chose the West Maui & Molokai flight. It is my favorite choice in Helicopter tours over Maui County. Written by Maui Sights and Treasures Sales Manager: Athena Walsh
We arrived at Blue Hawaiian helicopters excited for our flight. Their office is done very nice with it’s own waterfalls encased in glass. Blue Hawaiian Helicopters is a top notch company with lots of Awards on the walls. Blue Hawaiian is also a member of T.O.P.S. whose Helicopter standards are higher than the F.A.A.; plus Blue Hawaiian Helicopters has their own in house mechanics. All this made me feel safe to fly in a Helicopter with my family.
After weighing in and watching the safety video, we were on our way.
There is no better place on the planet to do a Helicopter flight than Maui! Waterfalls, waterfalls and more waterfalls! Not to mention the lush green peaks, valleys and ridges.
The main reason i like the Molokai tour over the Volcano/Waterfalls tour or the Circle Island Tour is that Mauna Kahalawai (W. Maui Mountains) is the 2nd ‘rainiest’ place in the world, getting approx. 300 inches of rain a year. That’s a lot of green plants and waterfalls… also, you will get to cross the channel to the Island of Molokai, not just Molokai…you get to see the famous ‘back side’ of Molokai, with the Kalaupapa Peninsula and its 3,000 ft. Sea Cliffs and lots more waterfalls!! Absolutely Stunning, no getting around it!
On Blue Hawaii Helicopters 45 minute Molokai Flight, you can whale watch as you cross the channel in the winter months on the way to and from the Island of Molokai.
Flying back to Maui, you will usually see Lahaina Town and into several of the valleys before landing back at the Kahului Heliport. The scenery all along the whole flight is amazingly beautiful! On a clear day you will be able to see the Fishponds from the ancient Hawaiians…
I recently did this Molokai tour when my brother Titan was visiting Maui over the Holidays. He opted to take the his small children as well and they really enjoyed flying in a real Helicopter! My brother enjoyed the flight so much he decided to feature Blue Hawaii Helicopters on his TV Show Titan; American Built.
