The Private Road to Hana is one of the most scenic drives in the World! You will see lots of billowing bamboos, beautiful cascading waterfalls, tropical Hawaiian flowers, and panoramic ocean views, wow! Since there are plenty of twists, turns and one-lane bridges, sit back relax and leave the driving to the experts! Hana is the lush, rainforest side of the island. There are only 12 guests in a van. This tour includes a continental breakfast and a hot Lunch.
Pick-up varies from each hotel.
The day usually begins around 7:00 am. Valley Isle Excursions will pick you up in 12 passenger van. These comfort coaches have large windows and individual Captain Chairs. You will start your trip with a continental breakfast at the Dunes of Maui Lani Golf Course Clubhouse.
The top tourist publications and magazines call the “Road to Hana” one of the top 10 most scenic drives in America! There are plenty of stops to take photos of the many waterfalls, Bamboo and Tropical Flowers. Bring $ if you like as we stopped at a couple of different Farmer’s Markets and Fruit Stands along the way.
You have to try the Coconut Candy and Banana Bread (mango bread in season), sometimes they have Coconut Juice right out of the Coconut! You will really feel like you know this side of Maui. The Hana Tour guides are very knowledgeable.
The scenic part of the tour starts with the famous surfing overlook at Hookipa Park. The Road to Hana has a variety of waterfalls including Wailua Falls.
There is a lot of bamboo, tropical flowers, and lush foliage along the drive. The Keanae Peninsula has Taro fields and a wonderful little coral church. You will visit the Black sand beach. You may want to dare your friends to get into the freezing cold freshwater of one of the two caves at Waianapanapa State Park! Drive through the quaint little Hana Town and Hana Bay.
Take a break at either a Flower Farm or the beach and enjoy a hot picnic lunch. (Chicken, Veggie Options available)
See Charles Lindbergh’s Memorial at Pala Pala Hoo Mau Church. Next, you will be heading around the ‘infamous’ “backside” of Maui, which is completely different than the ‘famous’ Road to Hana. Yes, it is very beautiful in its own way! This is the section of road you are not allowed to take rental cars. The last stop is at the Tedeschi Winery, before heading back to your hotel. The views along Kula Hwy and the winery are panoramic of South Maui, the West Maui Mountains, and the Valley!
Pick-up is between 6:00 -7:15 AM (depending on your hotel location) with a return around 5:00-6:00 PM.
Really a dynamite day trip with lots of photo opportunities!!
