Having lived on Maui for over 35 years now, I have many times heard of the “forbidden Island” of Ni’ihau, which lies off the western coast of Kauai.
Holoholo Charter’s 7 Hour Napali Coast Tour on the Island of Kauai includes a trip over too see Ni’ihau Island. On the day I went, we had perfect weather conditions and the water was so clear and cobalt blue! Absolutely Beautiful!!!
We cruised past the Island of Ni’ihau on the way over to Lehua Crater, 1 of only 3 Volcanic Calderas on Earth
Ni’ihau & Kauai Islands are the farthest North of all the main Hawaiian Islands and as such sees more of the rare ‘Hawaiian Monk Seals’. On our snorkel tour to Lehua we were lucky enough to see 5 Hawaiian Sea Lions!! *not to mention the Spinner Dolphins we saw on the way out…
After snorkeling the ‘backside’ of Lehua Crater-which was fabulous, our Captain cruised around to the inside of the Volcanic Crater, with fabulous Rock formations and openings like the “Key Hole” shown in this photo.
It depends on weather conditions and your Captain as to whether you go to Ni’ihau and Lehua first or along the Napali Coast.
Lunch was served after we crossed the channel back to Kauai and as we cruised along the beautiful Napali Coast.
The Cruise along the Na Pali Coast was/is stunningly beautiful! Even though we were on a larger catamaran, our Captain pulled the boat right under a waterfall and let us get wet! Then we were off to go into 1 of the many Sea Caves along the Napali Coast! Holoholo Charters Napali Coast Tour was/is so much Fun…
The day is longer than most of the other Napali Coast Tours, however it is well worth the extra time and money to be able to see not only the Napali Coast, you will also get Ni’ihau and Lehua crater!
