Aloha from Maui Sights & Treasures!

I recently found myself looking to buy a Gift Certificate to one of Maui’s newest ‘Farm to Table’  organic Restaurants, the Mill House Restaurant, located at the Maui Tropical Plantation.

The Maui Tropical Plantation has 60 acres of almost everything grown commercially here on the Island of Maui, from Sugar Cane & Pineapples to Fruit Trees and Vegetables *no, Pineapples do not grow on trees 🙂. There is currently a large gift shop that is one of the best places to shop for “Made on Maui” gifts, a gourmet restaurant: The Mill House, a Mill House Coffee Roasting store, and Ice Cream! Made on Maui of course!

The Maui Tropical Plantation offers many secluded arbors with benches around their lush property for taking a quiet moment out of your busy day, hopefully with a Hawaiian Shave Ice with Ice Cream, yumm!

Mauians are looking to be more sustainable these days.  Kumu Farms now cultivates over 35 Organic and GMO FREE crops; stop by Kumu Farms’ organic Farmers Market open to the public Tuesdays -Saturdays 10:00 AM-4:00 PM.

1 of the main highlights at the Maui Tropical Plantation is the Tram Ride. Take a tour on one of the new trams through the private fields cultivated by Kumu Farms; from Tropical Fruits including Banana & Coconut Trees, a variety of Tropical Flowers to fields of Veggie Crops. My favorite is the live Coconut Husking Demonstration!  There are 4 parts to a Coconut, taste the fresh coconut and watch as your guide turns the coconut flakes into Coconut “milk/water”!

The Maui Tropical Plantation tram tour is a 40 minute tour that starts at the top of every hour from 10:00 AM with the last Tram Tour departing at 4:00 PM. $20/Adults & $10/ Child ages 3-12.

*Note: Train buffs will appreciate the 2 Historic Trains from the late 1800’s that are on loan to the Mill House Restaurant from the Baldwin House Museum.
