Our Experience…

We were so excited to for our Moloka’i and West Maui tour! We left for the Heliport at 9:00am towards the West Maui mountains, the second wettest spot on earth.

The tour began with us flying over the “Wall of Tears,” where we saw over 17 waterfalls flowing at the same time. Then, we saw Maui’s tallest waterfall Honokohau  Falls, toweringover 1,100 feet high. The pilot went deep into the beautiful and lush valley’s, hovering and circling so everyone could get amazing photos of this fabulous and amazing waterfall.

As we were crossed  over the Pailolo Channel towards the Island of Moloka’i, we saw lots of Humpback Whales swimming with their babies (It is currently whale season on Maui). As we approached Moloka’i we could see “Elephant Rock” off shore.  We flew next to Moloka’i’s tallest waterfalls along the remote and isolated North Shore. The cliffs on Moloka’i are the world’s tallest sea cliffs, towering some 3,000 feet! It was such an incredible sight to see.  We then flew over the Kalaupapapa Peninsula, where  Father Damien aided so many with Hansen’s Disease (commonly known as Leprosy).

The biggest highlights of this Moloka’i and West Maui helicopter tour included the “Wall of Tears,” Honokohau  Falls, and the Launiupoko and Ukumehame valley’s. Our pilot Steve was fantastic! His command of the copter was great, and he provided wonderful commentary throughout our flight. Viewing Old Lahaina Town, and the the resort areas of Ka’anapali and Kapalua, shed a whole new light about the innate beauty of West Maui.

I am so glad we paid more for the front row seats next to the pilot. The views were beautiful and amazing! I would definitely do this again, and again! We took home a DVD of our actual flight filmed with their exclusive Sky-Cam video system. I could never have gotten such beautiful pictures on my own. I highly recommend the Moloka’i and West Maui Tour with Sunshine Helicopters!
