I love the ocean and I love to snorkel!   I have always thought about getting my scuba certification in Maui, but I was honestly a little nervous! Since it was on My Bucket List, I decided to Just Do It!  I found a dynamite company that has been in business on the island for 30+ years and made the reservation!   Wow, what an experience!

From start to finish it only took three days to actually get certified.   On the First Day, we focused on book work, reading, and understanding the equipment and water pressure.

The Second Day was all about hands on experience (about 5 hours) in the ocean.  We worked with the equipment, learning the purpose of each piece, how to connect all the pieces, and how to check and make sure everything is working safely.  Then, into the water we went!  Being under the water on the bottom of the ocean is totally awesome! A few people had problems, water in their mask etc.,  but after a few minutes all was well.  We completed all of our safety requirements under and on top of the water by  taking our masks and BC’s on and off, sharing air, and towing each other to safety.

At last, the hard work paid off and the strange new world was ours!  The Third Day was a two-tank dive off the boat!  Our first dive was Molokini and it was incredible, like being in a giant fish bowl!  Totally awesome and unbelievable!  My life has changed!
