O’o Farms
The Original Farm to Table “Farm Tour” on Maui
I recently received a very nice birthday gift certificate from my team at Maui Sights & Treasures to tour the O’o farm in the Kula, a community of upcountry Maui. O’o farm is eight acres of pristine land for growing quality local produce.
Highly rated on Zagat, pacific’O and i’o Restaurants in Lahaina were created in 1993 by the #1 Best Chef on Maui at the time: Chef James McDonald.
O’o Farm is the result of the Chef James McDonalds and his partners’ extraordinary commitment to providing quality local produce for his 2 Lahaina restaurants to deliver a true “Farm to Table” experience.
We arrived at 10:30 AM to a parking lot with beautiful bi-costal views. Upon arrival we were greeted by Joe, who shared his story about the 8 acres he calls home. Along with about 8 other couples and families we toured the Hawaiian Coffee Trees; our tour guide Joe explained the differences between the bright red Coffee Berries.
As we walked up the hill we found ourselves in the midst of fields of Fruit Trees, Lettuce and garden vegetables, Herbs, Squash, Eggplant, Strawberries and many other varieties of produce.
Joe shared his knowledge of preparing the land, from harvesting to composting. They even have Chickens which supply their eggs and fertilizer, which they use in their vegetable gardens.
We were able to visit the Coffee Roasting Room that smelled sooo aromatic! I learned a lot about the differences in the beans and roasting processes.
On our Tour lunch was included and 1 of the highlights was being able to pick and choose our own Vegetables to make our Salads. Chef Daniel made us the most amazing fresh lunch! So delicious…
Sitting outside under a beautiful covered picnic area with Maui at our feet and an amazing meal, it doesn’t get better. You may also bring your own bottle of wine and they will serve it to you with your meal.
O’o farms is owned by the Pacific’O restaurant and Feast of Lele Luau. Fresh produce is brought down daily to these fine eateries. So enjoy the O’o Farm Tour and then go to the Feast of lele Lu’au and sample the wonderful fresh produce from O’o Gardens.
I hope you enjoyed our blog on the famous O’o Farm to Table experience. Check back for more blogs on Maui Farm Tours. reserve the Feast at Lele Luau today to experience O’o Farms fresh produce in action…
